Default iPhone 2Gen Does Not Sync or Charge. Any Suggestions?

so here is the deal i have the 2Gen iPhone 1.1.4 and recently upgraded the iTunes on my Mac when i tried to sync music it didnt work. Well now when I try to charge the phone it doesnt want to charge. I have multiple chargers and usb cords but nothing seems to work. Well lastnite i turned off the phone completely and charged it to the wall charger and it charged my phone. What the hell is going on with my phone? anyone experience the same problem? Also, when i connect the usb to the phone via the mac it doesnt recognize the phone at all. Please Help ! this is very fustrating.

You could attempt completely uninstalling Itunes and then re-installing it again.

my iPhone wouldnt recognize the usb when i charged the phone or when i was tryna hook it up to iTunes so i followed the steps below

    open iTunes
    plug in phone
hold power and home till it apple logo comes up
then while still holding home, release the power button

should take about 30-45 secs for iTunes to recognize your phone in restore mode, assuming of course that your sync port is still good. Just because it charges does not necessarily mean it will still communicate with your computer.

but the screen turned black with the iTunes logo on the top then below that an arrow pointing the logo below the logo was a picture of the usb connector. this is weird so now what is the next step?

cpjr i tried that but nothing, i also even when to different computers but still no luck

Is the iPhone being recgonized by the operating system?

I found that sometimes if it doesn't have the right driver or something gets corrupted, the USB port will not allow power to pass through and charge it.

Does it work on a friends Windows computer? Does it show up as a camera device in My Computer?
