1g, 2g, 3g
Please tell me, why people call the first iPhone, the iPhone 2G??? Like its ONE G if anything cause its first generation, are they just retarted and like think that 3g is like right after it, so they should call it 3g???
It really bothers me...

uhhh dude. 3g stands for it being capable of 3g speeds of a data network. its not named the same way the ipod is as far as "g" goes

They are calling it by the data network. Edge is considered 2G or 2nd generation cell network. 3G is 3rd gen.

/\ yes exactly, 2G and 3G are speed terms, mean while G1 and G2, is Generation 1 and Generation 2.
so the iPhone 2G is a G1, and the iPhone 3G is a G2

ok. well i was so bothered by it lol, all over craigslist I saw 2G, and I thought people didn't know that 3G is a speed, so they thought it ment 3rd gen, so they named the one before it 2nd gen
