disable edge/3g on firmware 2.2?

I currently have a jailbroken 2.1 and I mainly just jailbroke it so I can disable the edge and 3g. I then found out it was possible to disable it without jailbreaking it by going to iphonenodata.com. Is there a way to disable the edge/3g on 2.2 somehow because I canceled my data plan with att.

^I'm pretty sure they will still force you to have a data plan because they can see your IMEI and they'll know you have an iPhone.

I've never heard of iphonenodata.com, so you can try it, but I'm not sure it will do you any good in the long run.

You have always been able to disable 3G on the phone. But you can't turn off Edge on a non-JB phone unless you switch on Airplane mode.

I had my old iPhone 2g for 6 months with no data plans it works fine

^Really? I guess it must just be for the 3G that they make you do that. My mistake.

i gave my old 1st gen to a friend and its unlocked and jailbroken on att with no data plan he just have to be carefull not to use data services while on edge
