Im looking to pick up an 3G iPhone in the UK and I would like to jailbreak it. Do I need a specific model or firmware on the phone to jailbreak it.

..well just cross your fingers that it doesn't have the newest 2.2 firmware. (which if you get it anytime soon, you shouldn't have a problem)

^Indeed, although I'm sure there will be a jailbreak for 2.2 soon enough.

Any model will do, though; the only thing that has any bearing is the firmware.

im sure even if you get one with 2.2 you can downgrade it back to 2.1. Just like the 1st gen was able to downgrade from 2.0 back to 1.1.4 cheers and good luck with the search

aparently there was a baseband update as well. didnt know if you knew this so going back down to 2.1 could come with problems.
