IPhone 3G Price
Hello I am a Blackjack 2 user who is wishing to upgrade to the Iphone 3G sometime in the coming months but the 400 dollar price tag deters me in a way. Now if that is my only option then yes I would be willing, but I just got my Blackjack 2 this past February and apparently I am not eligible for the 199.99 price tag. My phone is on a Family talk plan with AT&T with two other phonea and they are eligible. Would it be possible to go to the Apple store, tell them I want to get the phone for that account for 200.00, and then take it to ATT to instead replace the BJII plan I have? Or is there a more simple way by just walking in to any store.

with sim based providers all you have to do is take the sim out of your blackjack and put it in the iphone. all att is telling you is that they wont give you the phone for 200. if you get the phone in another way then jsut pop the sim in and you should be all set to go my man

that is going to depend on whether you qualify. for the 200 price you have to sign a 2 year contract for it. as far as upgrading your existing one that will depend on the options you and the rest of the family has on the plan.

or just look around to see if you can find one for cheaper. but straight from att if thats what they offer than thats pretty much it. you can buy the phone from somewhere else adn then just pop your sim in though

you would still have to pay a early termination fee. the only way to get your iphone for 200 is to wait till your contract ends and then upgrade to the iphone.

just go get the phone for the other lines that are eligible it will cost 199 then put ur sim card in.
Its not hard to figure out. Use ur brain.
You dont have to go to ATT or tell anyone anything.
If you not smart enough to figure that one out then u shouldnt get an iphone cause thats only going to be the start of your problems.
just my 2 cents.

Ok simple answer.
Use an eligible upgrade on one of the other lines of your family share plan that is eligible. You will pay 199 for the 8 gig, or 299 for the 16 gig.
Then, just put your sim card in the iPhone, and you'll be good to go. Just all AT&T and tell them you are using an iPhone on your number, and they'll adjust the plan accordingly.

ok so if i go the apple store, they will ask what line the phone is for, and if i giv them the eligible number, they check it, say it works, and dont do ANYTHING ELSE? they dont use a precaution to make the phone is only used on that line such as setting it up there? all i get it the box

Correct.
Just remember, legally, they can't do anything if you had gotten the phone (let's say off of eBay). So all you have to do is call AT&T and tell them you need the iPhone data plan for YOUR number, not the one you purchased the phone for. As long as the phone isn't used with the other line, they wont change that plan.

Just open another line and add it to the family plan. My iPhone plan is $9.99+$30 for the data. You will get the phone for $199(8GB).

My line was not upgradeable yet when I upgraded from iPhone to iPhone 3G. When I went to AT&T store here in Palm Beach County, FL, the sales representative upgraded my line without problems. However, I am required to pay an $18 activation fee simply because my line was not upgradeable. However, the fee was waived on my wife's iPhone 3G because her line was upgradeable. A new contract started on the date in which I purchased both 3Gs. If your line is not upgradeable, it does not mean that you will have to pay a higher price. No such thing exist according to AT&T. If you are not upgradeable, you will be required to renew your contract and pay an activation fee.

thers no xtra work. if it is activated in store, then it would be impossible for me to get it for 199.99. nobody seems to be able to answer my question. everyone that answers was eligible for the cheap price so you guys cant giv me a straightforward answer. i am not being rude or angry when im saying this but just making a point.
now, all that i want is yes or no.Last edited by orion1108; 11-21-2008 at 07:51 PM.
