you are totally not listening here. just get a phone, stick your sim in it, and plug it into itunes. you dont have to take it into att to activate the phone. no att involved here. you need to pay attention to the posts

Buddy, I just said I WAS NOT upgrade eligible. All you will be required by AT&T is to add another 2 years to your contract and pay an $18 activation fee. First thing you need to do is go to an AT&T store and get your questions clearly answered. We are here helping and with your kind of attitude I hardly doubt you will receive any further help.

ok look im sry for sounding angry or ignorant (im not) but mike u actualy did sorta help me but it seems like u got the 3g cheap just becuz u ownd the orig. iphone i have a bj2, so in my case its diferent and they probly arnt as lenient
and i calld at&t by callin 611 on my cell and they told me i would need to pay 400 dolars on the fone 4 my number
EDit: nevermind somebody else helped me and im guna get for 199.99 thx anyways

Just a reminder, if any of your lines do qualifiy, and you have them upgrade and then just trade you SIM cards, you'll extend the entire family plan contract by two years. Also, if AT&T doesn't have the correct IMEI paired with the correct SIM number you can run into connection issues. Although, once you have the iPhone switched onto your SIM you can call them and update them as to which SIM is in which phone (IMEI).
