New ipone 2.1 3g

I am new to this and do not want to f-up my phone. The main reason for jailbreaking my phone was that i wanted to have a better program to modify and repair a screwed up contact list on my phone.. Are there any 3rd party programs that will do that other than itunes with out jailbreaking iphone.... Also i think i have all the stuff needed to do it do jailbreaking

For the 3G u need the iphone1,2_2.1_5f136
