Back up and restore takes 12+ hours
I just purchased the 3g so i had to back up my 2g. it took 12+ hours to back it up and taking even longer to restore it on my 3g. i only used about 3.5 gigs. so why is it taking so long to back up and restore.
I did a search and nothing relevant came up
thanks

What firmware are you running? 2.0 and 2.0.1 had horribly long backup times. 2.1 fixed that problem with the backup.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

If you have the latest version of iTunes, 8.0.1 and 2.1 firmware, it should backup seamlessly. I have 5 pages of apps, and my backup yesterday literally took 30 seconds...

^^^^^for real on that. i had the same problem until i upgraded BOTH itunes and the firmware. 6 pages of appstore apps cant be too friendly either. and usually the first backup takes a while and the other ones are incrimental.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
