Wi-fi disconnect: a bug?
Whenever my iPhone is on the lock screen for more than, say, 15 minutes, it disconnects from the wifi. Is this a bug? 'Cuz it sure bugs me! I can't lock with a messenger on, or anything like that.
Whether or not it's a bug, can I fix it?

Im pretty sure this is a way to save battery life, and not a bug. the 3 iPhones I have had all did the same thing. I guess Apple's thought was, why have wifi on in your pocket....
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Not a bug, a "feature". lol
Yes it's a battery saving thing. Soon as the iPhone is placed in sleep mode,Wi-Fi will disconnect within a minute (unless you have insomnia installed). How do you keep your Lock screen on for 15 mins without the iPhone automatically going to sleep?

How do I know it went to sleep? I never realized the iPhone went to sleep when it was on the lock screen-I just thought the lock screen basically was sleep mode?
Also, tell me more about this Insomnia please
I've installed Insomnia, but don't know how to turn it on or off. If I leave it on, will it not destroy my battery life? What else does it do besides keep Wifi on?
Thanks!Last edited by MaxRabbit; 11-17-2008 at 06:49 PM.

Sleep mode is basically when the screen is off, but the phone is still turned on. You simply wake it by clicking on the home button or sleep button, then sliding to unlock.
I think the insomnia settings are placed in the Settings App, or there is/was a bossprefs toggle you could install. It's been awhile since I used it.

So Insomnia will keep Wifi alive?
That's great as long as it doesn't eat up battery; I hate having to re-log into my school's networks every so often. I might even buy Devicescape or whatever its called that allows you to save your wifi login information so as to not have to continuously retype it in.Respect your elders.

I found that it was installed wrong-after a reinstall it put an icon on the springboard

You can easily turn it on or off-is it very bad to leave it on all the time?
