    Default how to backup????

Ok i know this has probably been asked 100's of times but i still cant find the right thread...

I am jailbroken , and i wish to re-jailbreak everything clean. This is why i wish to backup all my sms and contacts before i restore the iphone... BUT i read in many places that you should never use an itunes backup of a jailbroken phone in the future.

    SOOO..

Is it possible to use a program like DiscAid or similar to get in a iphone folder with the contacts/ sms, copy it and put on desktop... later put it back in the iphone after re-jailbreak

You CAN use a jailbreak backup. I do it all the time. Its just the process that most peeps mess up.

    Best thing to do.....

    1. Backup through Itunes.

    2. Restore you phone in Itunes. BUT DO NOT SYNC.

    3. Jailbreak away.

    4. Now sync.

I do it all the time on my 3G 2.1 iPhone. Before you restore/jailbreak, go into iTunes and right click on your iPhone under the devices tab. Click on BACKUP. Then proceed to restore/re-jailbreak your iPhone. Once your done doing all that, just bounce back into iTunes and right click on your iPhone device again and this time select the "Restore From Backup" option.
