What software does that apple store use to do the diagnostics check on the iphones?

Itunes, if they use anything beyond that....its surely not available outside of Apple.

naw what they used wasnt itunes... when they plugged in my iphone... it was to another program.. im goin tomorrow so hopefully i get a peek at it...

It tells them a bunch of stuff, but all that diagnostic data is wiped when you restore, apparently. Plus, it doesn't really matter, because they're not obligated to listen to what the app tells them. If you find a Genius in a good mood, he/she can replace your phone for no reason at all. The diagnostic data just helps them out, they don't have to go by it.

i went with my other 3G (8gig) to the apple store, it had a little thing stuck under the screen, looked like a tabaco leaf like from cigs. they replaced it. they didn't have to plug it into anyhtring thou for soemthing like that.

oh ps, the dude was in a really good mood, i bsed with him about my new macbook and iphones in general. i was about to whip out MY iphone and show him some of the cool stuff it does now but decided not too...
