funny story
So I was in a public bathroom a few weeks ago, and set my iPhone on the toilet tank. It looked flat, but apparently was not, and I turned my back to hang up my purse, and heard a splash as my iPhone fell in the toilet. I scooped it out, grabbed some paper towels, and as I was furiously trying to dry it, it lit up and said, "Your iPhone is not optimized to work with this device."
And for those who fear death by water, my iPhone was just fine.

my 2g did the same thing, except my daughter spilled rootbeer on. no matter what i plugged in (or didnt plug in) it would say the device is not optimized for iphone. charger, radio, car stereo, nothing, they all said it. luckily i just turned it off, stuffed some paper towels in the dock port, let it sit for a day, and i turned back on and worked fine
