Telnet/SSH into iPhone3G without Jail-breaking?

My first post here, so please go easy on me

I was trying to make some offline maps for my iPhone (dont have a data plan) following the online tutorial using GMDL ... I was able to create my custom map.

Now I want to transfer the files over to my iPhone but I cant access the file structure unless (I assume) I jailbreak it .. or is there a way to do this without jailbreaking?

no root access without jailbreaking. You can transfer stuff over to the media partition via diskaid, or one of the many data-storage applications available through the app store.
