my buddy tried to update my iphone from 1.1.4 to 2.0 using itunes....bastard!
when i try to re-unlock the phone, im getting problems.
im using an old version of ziphone gui. is has always worked for me in the past. when im using the program, im getting stuck where it tries to boot the phone in recovery. i have used this program several times the exact same way without getting this hang up.

Ziphone and my previous 2.X iphone did not match. Try updating to 2.1 which is more stable and jailbreak and unlock with winpwn. I never had problems when jailbreaking and unlocking the 2g iphones with winpwn and the process takes just under 5 minutes.

Ziphone is dead....does not work (and is not intended too) on 2.0 or above.

if you take it back to the store, they will not fix it. they will be able to determine that you have used ziphone and potentially turn you away.
if you use the pwnage tool / winpwn from scratch creating a custom 2.1 firmware, at the end of the process it will put your phone into DFU mode. then restore to the custom firmware and your phone should be good to go.
also, i believe that if you take it in to them and they detect that you have unlocked / modified the firmware at all then they log it against the phones serial number? The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

What do you mean "can't get it out of recovery mode..."? When you plug it into iTunes, what does is it say? It should say it has detected your iPhone in recovery mode and offer to restore and update.
I suggest you do that, then as teh previous poster suggested, use winpwn to create a custom fw.
There is a really simple to follow tutorial on iclarified.com Go to tutorials/iPhone/unlock. It's the one on top and has links to all the files you need! Super simple!
And rememeber to check the box in iTunes that prevents auto-detect fro updates!
2.1 FW has run perfectly flawless on both my iPhones. Never had a single problem...runs to find a piece of wood to knock on.
