Default Working with jailbroken 2.1 problems

I have made the mistake of upgrading my iphone to 2.1, however i have been able to jailbreak it successfully. My problem resides here. I dropped my precious Iphone and the lower portion of my screen stopped working aka "dead strip" (ithink). I have found the tutorial on changing the sensitivity on the iphone called the iphone touchscreen fix on the limitededitioniphone website which tells you to mod the general.plist in applications/preferences.app however when i try to use my iphone with a program such as iNdependence i cant because i am using 2.1. Anyone here know how i can get around this lower dead screen problem or any programs i can use with my 2.1 to modify the preferences? Thanks in advance

(p.s im new here just got my iphone, hoping to be a long term member!)

Can't you just SSH in and change the file on your computer?
