Ya it sucks. Get insurance on your iPhone!!! You can get coverage up to the value of the iPhone's retail. I have a 16GB 3G and got it insured for less than $100 which covers everything from warranty and accidental damage. When I dropped mine, I filed a claim, went to Apple and paid the 299 for a new one and got 299 - 50 deductable in my paypal account within days.
