internet connection problems

I have a jailbroken 2.1 iPhone 2G. I have had it for over 1 year and I have never had any kind of problem... until recently. The Internet connection has been acting up over the past couple of weeks. Like 80% of the times that I open Safari my phone can't connect to the Internet. The reception is good and the E is on, so everything should be working fine... but it isn't. I tried in different areas of the city (Los Angeles) and the problem is always the same.

I decided to restore with the jailbroken firmware and nothing changed. So I restored with the original 2.1 firmware and it worked for a few hours, but now I'm back to the same situation.

Cannot Open Page -- Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding.

Any ideas?

Btw, the Internet connection problem is the same with any application on my phone that requires it. Like Mail, Maps etc.

My iphone running 2.1 has been having the same problems. It starts up fine and works for a little bit and then it just cuts out. It still says I am connected with my edge and also at home with wifi but nothing responds like mail, safari, weather etc. I have noticed that restarting the phone and putting it into airplane mode for 15 seconds sometimes bring it back. I am hoping that the 2.2 software will fix this. I know I didn't have it with the 2.0.2. Hopefully this helps a little.

I am also having this problem,my scanario is a little different though. I have a 2g on 2.0.2 and recently in my area the att network went down, no one could text or call or use edge and it was like that for about 24 hours. When they got it fixed i resumed texing and calling normally but when i tried browseing on safari i would get the server not responding pop up.I called an att store and they told me to hold sleep and home untill it restarts and i did and safari would very very very slowly bring up some web pages but i still get the server not responding pop up. I plan on restoring tomorrow and if that doesnt work i will go back to att and b!tch and moan and maybe just maybe i will get an early christmas present lol.
