    Default water mark on 3g

    anyone know where the water mark is on the 3g phone.. my girl just dropped it in the bath tub and it started tweaking then flashing off and on.. i shut it off and gonna try and let it dry.. but if that doesn't work anyone know what to do next.. i know on the 2g it was possible to fake the water mark back to white is it the same on the 3g.. thanx ahead of time..

    Pretty sure it's the same. Inside the headphone jack. White if dry...Redish Pink if it got wet. I also believe there is another one on the inside on the pc board.

    Sorry, besides the headphone jack, there is also one at the bottom of the 3G. It's a tiny screw on the bottom of the insides of the dock connector.

    there is one on the headphone jack and on the dock connector but can only be seen from the inside. I think i saw a couple on the mainboard as well.

    i see the one i the head phone jack it's definately pink... cant find the one at the bottom.. do i have to take out the screws... right now i have the phone off in a tub full of rice... i heard that will absorb the moisture...i cant find the thread that talks about how to make the dot white agian... if i take it to apple do they check the one at the bottom...any advise? thanks agian.

    The 3g is a lot harder to fake than the 2g. it is integrated into the parts rather than just glued on like it used to be. On the old phone anything white would do, but on the 3 it is part of a molded system that is vented to take on the moisture.

    so basically i'm SOL right?... does anyone know how to take it apart so i can let it dry better? do i need speacial tools for it? thanks again

    ifixit has a tutorial on how to take it apart, but that is not going to help your circuit board any. It needs to go on a probe and a scope to have the voltage traced on the MOBO and see if there are any spikes or damages on it. Honestly you may wait three days just to find out doesn't work.... most don't after that. A quicker process to having it back on track would be to click the hardware link in my sig.

    ok guys thought i would update you.. she couldn't wait any long we turned it on after 2 day's of drying in rice.. it works perfect the whole screen responses well the only side effect is after the screen stay's on for like two minutes with nothing happening it fades to this really bright dull screen.. so it's kool accept that i lost all warrenty on a phone that's like two months old.. thanx for everyones help and input..
