    Default Gmail on iPhone question

Is there any way that you can get your gmail so when i connects it doesnt load your full mailbox directly from gmail? Also when i delete a message it will delete on www.gmail.com, but i want it to remain in my inbox online, kind like the blackberry how it gives you the option to delete just on handheld or both.

    Thank you

archive your old emails, Thats what i do so it only shows new emails, the only reason it deletes it on your inbox is because gmail uses imap on the iphone, if you could set it to use POP3 then it would just delete em on the phone

When you set up teh Gmail account do NOT choose Gmail from teh account set up page. Choose "other". When you input th egmail address the iphone will ask if you want IMAP or POP so choose POP. Input incoming mail server as "pop.gmail.com" and smtp server as "smtp.gmail.com" . The account should then set up properly. It does for me anyway since I do use gmail pop as I like to keep messages on one computer and delete them off my iphone. I learned this the hard way when I deleted stuff off one machine I lost everything whin I didnt know gmail has set itself to IMAP.
