Default Erase all content and settings

I currently own a 8gb iPhone (not 3g), currently unlocked and jailbroken working with 2.1 firmware. I'd like to give it a full reset & erase (using the function on the settings menu) but I'm worried the phone might lock itself (not being unlocked anymore) and also erase it's jailbreak. I'm doing this b/c the phone's working really slow and it freezes itself constantly.

Anyone can tell me what could happen??

Dont waste your time doing that. I would just restore it with a clean image and rejail break it using quickpwn.

My 16GB 3G phone took over an hour and a half to reset to factory settings and erase all the media.

To answer your question, what it would do is delete everything on your media partition. The jailbreak and unlock will stay.

Exactly the answer I was looking for! Because when my phone had 1.14 firmware I did it and it happened exactly what you said, but since now I've upgraded the phone to 2.1 I wanted to make sure before doing anything.

cydia breaks because it transfers itself over to the media partition? Are you sure? I was under the assumption that cydia was always on the root partition. Regardless, there is an easy enough fix. You just have to reinstall cydia via terminal.

I had dont the same thing to my Iphone 3g, and it took 1 hour to erase. From that time, the iphone restarts and stuck on APPLE SYMBOL.

I had tried to connect it with ITUNES but it says "iphone maybe damaged and cannot activate services"

I cant do anything now.. please give me suggestion.

plug it in itunes, hold power and home button until the cd and cable picture appear on the phone, then click restore, OR if you want to unlock, download a 2.2 firmware and SHIFT CLICK restore, and choose the 2.2 firmware to restore..

You can't use the same software to jailbreak the touch. And no, you won't get in trouble.

Jailbreaking voids your warrenty. So before taking it to Apple or something to get it fixed just do a restore to erase the jailbreak and they will never know

That is absolutely not true. Unless you wipe the user data section, files are left behind from jailbreaking that area a dead giveaway to Apple. So after restoring you must "Erase all content and settings" to clear these files completely.

In my jailbroken 3G I have selected "Erase All Contents and Settings" and it took about an hour, but now its stuck on the Apple logo with occasional blinking on screen. It doesn't appear on Windows nor in iTunes. I have tried to perform de hard reset (home + power for 5 seconds), but it still stucked in the apple logo with ocasional blinking (every ~4 minutes).
    Help!
