Iphone Maps on 2g or 3g !

i have a slight guestion/ complaint! I live in south africa and i have a jailbroken iphone 2g and was wondering y every where else in the world google maps works perfectly and here in south africa it hardly has any main roads! Ive been seeing the 2.2 firmware and saw all the cool functions for google maps! will there be any chance for google to update our maps! The iphone 3g has arrived to us about 3 weeks ago .... so shouldnt google update by now!
