You got a "refurbished" unit.
Which was a broken iphone someone else brought it under warranty, Apple fixed it, conditioned it to like new...and its yours.

I had a refurb a few weeks back with an applecare wty swap from apple. It was immaculate, might as well be a new phone.

Do Apple stores have refurbs on hand? My son's 2G doesn't vibrate anymore and its still under warranty. Since he generally keeps it on silent (vibrate) the phone is not too useful right now. I figured we could restore to stock and get a replacement but it would be nice if we could walk out of the store with it.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.

^^They should. Best bet would be a phone call first to make sure.

Policy is to keep them on hand for the Applecare and $200 swap out programs.

thanks for the info. I had been wondering what the policy was on 2g iPhones.

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

^^Or most other repair issues that arent covered under warranty. Like water damage for example.

"incorrect sim" if it is locked. They'll see it is unlocked. Problem is not even with the phone, they don't care about that.... it has to be registered with ATT that you have that iphone and that serial number on their att plan.

well I finally got up to the Apple store this weekend to swap the non vibrating 2G. No problems. The replacement look new. It came with 2.0.2 firmware so I jailbroke with winown 2.5 then upgraded to 2.1 then jailbroke with quickpwn. Easiest jailbreAk and upgrade ever.
