Run Programs in the background

I'm new to the forum and the Iphone I have the 3G and have had several Microsoft platform phones. My question is say I want to run Pandora and google maps at the same time or run any program while utilizing another is this possible how or why not?

There is an app called "Backgrounder" that will allow apps to run in the background (apps that normally would not).

It is in Cydia, not sure if your familiar....however basically it will require you to "jailbreak" the phone, its not an Apple released app.
