Default I want to develop apps for the iphone...

but I don't know how. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 for my default OS. I can use Vista if I need, but would prefer Ubuntu. What do I need to develop? I obviously can't use the SDK. What else can I use? What languages can I use? I have looked, but can't really find the information I am looking for. I don't understand what the toolchain is, or really anything about applications for the iphone. Will anyone please enlighten me?

You will need to do a google search for a topic that has probably already been discussed multiple times.

Ok since you're so lazy and can't search I did it for you:

    Step 1: google.com
Step 2: type in SDK kit iphone

Step 3: click on first link or you can just go here:

    iPhone Developer Program

    Step 4: Read

    Step 5: Thank Me.

You know gQstatus05 it doesn't pay to be a **** when you're also wrong.

The guy doesn't have a Mac - so the Apple SDK is a no go. He said that first post. I found the toolchain confusing too - it wouldn't hurt to try and actually help.

I have found it hard too as I only have a mac at work, it will get easier now Apple has dropped the NDA and people can share information. Apps are basically to my knowledge coded in Objective C, so learning a bit of that is a step forward.

Thanks zendj and AKA_Ben. I heard about the iPhone Developers Cookbook, but I wasn't sure if it would only talk about the SDK. Does anyone know anything about it? As in, will it show me how to develop using Windows or Linux ( or specifically not on a Mac )? I ask because it says "...Building Applications with the iPhone SDK..." and since I can't use it.... I don't know what to do. I went to Apps Amuck, but it looks like it is just a place you put up apps. I went to furbo.org · [REDACTED], but it doesn't look like it has anything to do with showing anyone how to develop. Apploop looks like it is a website that takes any RSS feed, and turns it into an app. I'm sorry if I seem annoying.

Your pretty much stuck at the minute unless you have Mac OS X, the links I posted are just really to help understand the way developers currently work with the SDK. Until Apple releases a Windows version of it your going to be hard pushed to find much information on developing iPhone apps with Windows.
