No SWOD..but no?..[help]
Ok so, this morning, I went to my iphone, opened up Cydia, and there were 5 updates. So i decided to update them. While its updating, a popup comes up and says something about the mivtones source. I just press "ok" and let it continue to update. When it was finished, i pressed the reboot phone button and it did so. But, it stuck at the booting screen. It stays there for a long time, flashes white, black, and starts over again... There is no SWOD.. so im like...? And I'm a little ticked off because i didn't get to back up my contacts..
So, should i just DFU mode and restore to 2.1? Also, is there a way to get into the phone and recover my contacts at this point or am i done for?.

I would say try entering recovery mode and use diskaide to back up your stuff and then try to investigate why this happened by deleteing your recently updated files
Thanx button in advanced

When i went into Recovery mode, Diskaid did not detect it. Same with DFU mode.

Try this . . .
Apple Logo of Death solution! (SWOD) - iPhone Tips& tricks - iPhoneFreakz
I had an appstore install fail, and my phone was in ALOD (Apple Logo of Death) loop. I really didn't want to restore, as my puppy is set up with lots o' crap - just the way I like it.
So, searched and come up with this. Worked a treat!! Now I am no longer scared of looking up my iphone, as I just ssh in, and viola . . .
Worth a try before you restore . . .

SSH to /var/mobile, and rename Applications to Applications2. You'll lose a few apps, but you won't need to restore.

IP Address
I don't know your set-up, but if you have a WiFi router, you should be able to log into that and see connected devices.
I tend to have static IP addresses assigned to my equipment via the router so I always know the address.
Hope this helps . . .
