(1st gen Iphone 1.1.4 Erica's Utilities Install for the ICHECKMAIL APP to work)

*)I needed an application that would help Notify me right when I get an email so I went to instal ICHECKMAIL APP & it said u must instal ERICA'S UTILITIES FIRST.
*) I go to instal ERICA'S UTLITIES & a message comes up ADD /VAR/ROOT/BIN TO YOUR PATH. I DON'T GET WHAT THE HELL THAT MEANS!!!!
*) I am familiar with WINSCP and use it often and know I have to add that in SOMEWHERE but I Can't find DETAILED instructions on how to do that.
WHERE DO I ADD THAT EXACTLY(DETAILED-SPECIFIC)????????????
*)The ICHECKMAIL APP will not work because of this problem I know.

*) I HAVE GOOGLED THIS FOR A MONTH AND READ THREOUGH THIS SITE TILL I'M BLUE IN THE FACE!!!!!!!

*) When I go into WINSCP where do I navigate to EXACTLY & add this????

OR DOES ANYONE KNOW OF AN INSTALLER APP(ONLY NOT CYDIA) THAT CAN'T HELP ALERT ME THE SECOND AN EMAIL HITS ME????????????
