customize sms alert like ringtone

hello newbie here. i just wanna ask if its possible to customize and change sms alert just like ringtone? if yes how? thanks in advance.

The only way to do it is the jailbreak it and replace the specific sounds in the directory with your own. You dont have the same ability as you do for ring tones.
