Default iPhone 3G has Ring of Death... Im panicking.

k this has probably been posted before but i need something specific to my problem.

I had a jailbroken 2.1 3G and decided to rrstore tonight because of slow performance, etc.

    so i did.

and everything was fine up until it asked to restore my backup, and i NEED to do that. i need everything on the backup.

so it takes about 10-20 minutes to restore. when it done, i get the ring of death...

it keeps double buzzing (as if its being plugged in through the charger) over and over again. then after its totally frozen, it restarts, repeat...

i really dont want a brick and im stuck. i need your guys' awesome brains for this.

    i need this back up.

its got contacts, important notes, calendar entries, etc.

as of now, i have a brick =[

    thanks guys
    for all your help

when exactly did the phone mess up? After the firmware restore, or after you tried to load the backup onto it?

ignore the previous questions, I misread.

Okay try this, restore your phone, don't restore from backup, in fact ignore iTunes completely. Jailbreak your phone with the same method you did before, and after you've gotten it to about the same as you had it prior to the restore, (i.e the time you made your backup), try and restore from backup.

I second that! From my 1st restore, the backup caused my 3g to ring of death/vibrate... just set it up as "new iphone".

Setting the phone up as "new" does the trick! I had this happen to me this weekend. My dumbass set-up an appointment at the Apple store, then i realized I hadn't tried to restore as a "new" phone. Needless to say it worked and I have my baby back!
