Not your normal battery topic
Does anyone have any extensive knowledge of the iPhone battery. I know that their are 3 leads coming from it. red, white and black. I have read one is common, and 2 of them are hot. Of the 2 hot, one supplies 6 volts and the other 3. Would anyone know if the 3 volt lead is what supplies the "kick" to the power button to turn on the phone? I am running out of answers for my problem and just thought I would ask before I send it out to be repaired by a 3rd party shop.

It has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's a Li-on battery, they all have three leads. One is a balancer. Whatever your problem is, it isn't the battery. You are highly overthinking this.

thanks for the quick reply. I have tried everything possible since the button wont work, and I cant get dfu mode and cant rejailbreak. I even talked my friend into letting me take his apart and swap backs since all the buttons and ribbons are attached. mine started his phone, so that ruled that out..........

Too bad you didn't convince him to swap the motherboards so you could rule out the Flex Cable since it controls the entire phones power routing.

well, Is still do have his phone since its his "old" one. The glass on it is shattered since he's dropped it on every possible part of the phone but all still works with it. Is swapping the motherboard as straight forward as it looks in diaassembly videos ive seen?

I know people who can't back their car out of a driveway without smacking the damn trash can on the way out.......... do it and judge for yourself if it is hard.

And if I swap them and it doesnt work, then im guessing flex cable, and if it does work then its the motherboard? Then I guess I PM you for where to send it if its the flex cable?

ok, after all of the playing around, and swapping parts, I have determined that the problem IS the logic board. When i put the logic and comm board from the other in mine, the power button now works. So, when i was removing the antenna wires, the longer lead that goes to the connection on the comm board came off with the connector attached. I have been able to identify that this in fact does affect the wifi. I now have to put the phone right next to my router to connect to wifi. Anyone know if i can solder the connector to the board? will this help?

No, the connectors are VERY fragile (as you have found out) and once they come off the board they are off. I've had to attempt to solder them back on to more than ten phones and failed all but 3 times because the connection comes directly out of the logic board to the connector and does not run across the face of it.... it is INSIDE the logic board as part of the molding process when it was made (Thanks Apple!). So when it breaks off, it is now down inside the board and you're hosed.
This is why I always tell people not to screw with their phones unless you have direct experience with SMD's. They are extremely fragile.
I'll give you two options............
#1- I can make an 11th attempt to solder the connections (provided you haven't lost the motherboard connector yet) and we can see if it works out.
#2- I have an 8gb iPhone with a cracked glass I can remove the motherboard on and shoot to you for $165.
If you want me to give it a shot and see if we can make it work, click the hardware link in my sig.
PS- did you do this to your phone or your buddies?Screw #Winning, I'm #Juanning

I can make two phones become one and you'll end up with what you want if you send both over. That way I can use your motherboard and his comm board, and one of the two frames, and...... you get the point. Just take all the little screws and connections and everything and put them in a plastic baggy. Include both complete phones parts, You never know what you're going to need once you get in there. I've seen digitizers stop working, comm boards go out, plugs separate, ribbons shred, there may be unforeseen damage so don't leave anything out of the baggy and I'll make it become a working setup.
