Unlocking 3G
I just heard that you can't easily unlock a 3G iPhone; I was completely stunned-is that true? If so, I'm canceling my hunt for a 3G!
I thought you could do it easily with quickpwn or something...

If, by easily, you mean not at all, then you are correct. Currently there is no 3G unlock (which is why the 2G phones are worth waht they are, lol)

And I had NO idea! I'd be SO pissed if I bought a 3G now!
I know this is a generic, stupid, newbie question, but does anyone have ANY realistic idea for an unlock date?
Also, would it be better to wait a while for the 3G to get unlocked before I buy something?

If you are in the states there is no reason to get a 3G anyway (inless you REALLY want GPS which has potential but does almost none of what a native GPS unit does - - by this I mean turn by turn :P)

Also, how long did it take for the 2g to become unlocked?
What I really want is a non-recessed headphone jack. That b**** pisses me off every day

We have no idea when an unlock will be available for the 3g...everything is only speculation.

I must say that I'm amazed that it takes so long! Not because I think the crackers are worthless, it just displays how much trouble Apple must've gone through to lock it down, and how dedicated the crackers are to put so much effort into it for so long!

Well, Apple sort of is in a contract with cell providers so they are OBLIGATED to do the best they can to lock people out and keep them on contract.

just buy a sim card adapter for 20$ its better off in the long run anyway cause the baseband stays unmodified or appears it hasnt been modded.

I didn't realize the sim adapters were so cheap

I might go for a 3G anyways, then.
Could you let me know what are the best? Based on claims, this one looks pretty cool, but who believes the claims of manufacturers?
Thanks guys!

So, again, what are good options?
