The phone has changed ALOT since 1.0.2 to 2.1 (even 1.0.2 to 1.1.4 is alot different)
I am not sure if 1.1.4 is still supported by installer (I think not at all by cydia)
That being said, 2.1 is pretty solid and I would recommend you go with that. You will see alot of apps (mostly games) that you downloaded on installer in the appstore as paid apps. (there are ways around this but you have to look elsewhere for that). Cydia has come a long way and there are more apps than ever now on 2.1
Ask yourself this question: Why do you want to upgrade? If you were happy with 1.0.2 before I am not sure why you decided an upgrade is necessary, but in my opinion if you ARE going to upgrade it may as well be to the newest firmware.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Latest Firmware 2.1 in my opinion is the best firmware, it fixed alot of issues with 1.1.4 and 2.0 i.e google maps and lags!
My Arrival Was Imminent!

1.1.4 has all the games from installer, 2.1 has pretty much no jailbroken games, but it has some apps. Good one's too. Very handy. If you want games though 2.1 is devoid of them unless you to go itunes and buy them. The games guys hopped on the apple cash cow.

But 2.1 can be jailbroken so why not upgrade and have access to the AppStore as well as Cydia & Installer?

Upgrade to 2.1 then.

I doubt any developers are making new stuff for 1.1.4.

If you can handle shelling out some cash for games, then 2.1 has no comparison.

one more question
going from 1.0.2 or 1.1.4 to 2.1. ?
Do i need to revergenize my phone first ?
or go straight to custom fw ?
or i must put stock f/w first ?
sorry to many questions, long time didn't browse this gret forum :P

If your phone isn't unlocked, but is jailbroken, you can pretty much go straight into a firmware upgrade. I'm not sure if you'll come out with a brick upgrading an unlocked 1.0.2 phone to 2.1, but there are enough tools available to fix that anyway.
On a side note, like yours my phone is an original 1.0.2. I eventually upgraded to 1.1.4 and had a blast with everything Installer had to offer. Example: iRadio, Agile Messenger, and iSlSk completely trump anything the App Store has to offer.
I upgraded to 2.1 last week and experienced a much slower phone. Anything that I opened...SMS, phone, calendar...would pause for a few seconds before opening. The App Store offerings weren't worth the performance loss in my opinion. Example: App Store has streaming internet radio apps that are functionally better than iRadio, but they have far less channels to choose from, and they quit playing when you exit.
But then again, 1.1.4 is pretty much antiquated as far as development goes. If you want the new and the now, go for 2.1.Do I brag about which phone I have in this space?
