cannot use google or google app (iphone 3g)

Hi guys I have the most annoying problem of my iphone experience! Just upgraded to 3g,all was working fine.

Now if i type google.com into safari, it re-directs me (rightly) to Google and then (annoyingly) to Google which is just a blank page.

I think, nevermind I can use the google app. perform the search, results load fine. Click the result I'd like to view and safari opens up, but instead of opening the website address it opens up something starting http://66.102.9.99/m/gn/ib#c=1... and so on. For example I click on a wikipedia link and that address starting with an IP opens and again, a blank page.

I can not use google at all due to this, if it was on a pc it'd look like a virus or spyware, but surely you cant get these on iphone?

If anyone has any advice, I am desperate!

Have you actually ever stayed on the blank page for more than a couple of seconds? Google always loads a blank page for me first, after which it changes to the right page.

yeah i have, the loading circle at the stop also stops doing anything to suggest it has loaded. But yes, i've left it for about 5 minutes on wi fi and nothing.

What's with all the virus speak all of the sudden. So many people fearful of a virus. By the way, the only thing stopping a virus from existing is the person who makes it. There is nothing about Apple or the iPhone itself that makes it innately virus free.

i restored my phone and the google problem has now fixed itself.
Annoyingly a constant phone call echo means that I am taking my phone back to o2 for an exchange tomorrow anyway.
