I didn't do any of the things listed in your post.
All I did was download a custom firmware from here...fire up iTunes 8...and then pressed shift+restore to select the firmware I downloaded onto my desktop.
Have you looked in your services to see if your Apple Mobile Device service is started? Start-->Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Services.
If it isn't then your computer may not recognize your phone when you plug it in.
Otherwise you can restore it by entering DFU mode. This kinda sux cause you have to reload everything onto the phone, but it works.Last edited by CaptainChaos; 10-10-2008 at 02:58 AM.

We get one of these posts a day. Please stop claiming broken iphone. just redo it... something didn;t go all the way through. If that doesn;t work, try and download another ipsw file becaus ethe one you got might be bad or something.

Problem with iPhone
Hi guys,
I ran the same application as tuNIX and the exact same thing happened to me. When I got to the stage of putting my iPhone into DFU mode, an error from itunes came up saying there was a problem, and the files did not transfer. Now my fone will not turn on. The screen is completely blank. It doesnt show up in my iTunes either. I tried getting it into DFU mode from here, but this doesnt work either! I've restarted and all that jazz but still nothing! Does anyone have any suggestions at all?! PLEASE!!!

P.S. Whats this shift and restore thing? Maybe I could try that?
Thanks
Hi me again... I fixed the problem! And this is a very handy tip to anyone who has had the same problem as above!
You do a similar process as DFU mode - hold Home button and Power button for 10 seconds. Instead of releasing the power button after the 10 seconds, and holding the home button, you release the home button and hold the power button. The apple logo came up straight away!!!

Hope this helps!Last edited by wired101; 03-17-2009 at 02:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
