When you iphone rings .... ( genuine question )

I have seen the adverts for the iPhone here in the UK.

I have an iPhone.

Its a geek question this but I feel I am in the right place

When the end of the advert comes , the phone rings , a small icon with the picture of the caller appears in the top right of the phone , with the name on the left , and the earth wallpaper on the bottom

My phone ( a 2g model ) and a collegues 3g model will not do this.

we can take pictures and assign to a caller , but not get it to appear in the top right.

Why is that ? What am I doing wrong.

Its sad and geeky , and not really worth worrying about but I do !

You can only get the pic like that when you have the contacts photo in your address book/ contacts on your computer. Taking a photo of them with your phone will add the larger photo.

The pictures you do take, do they show up at all? The only way you can get a picture to appear in the top right and not the whole screen, which I'm assuming its doing is to edit that specific contact on your own computer.

When I add a picture to a contact in Address Book in OS X. It appears up in the top right. When I assign that contact a picture from the iPhone it appears full size on the screen.
