iPhone 3G Side & Rear Light Leak Defect

I wanted to start a topic on this issue I have with my iPhones. If you google "iPhone 3G Light Leak" it seems to be a widespread problem and quite common from my experience. I recently purchased 2 iPhone 3G's (black 16gb and white 16gb). I noticed on both of them that (when seen in low light) that the backlight leaks through on the front left side where the screen meets the chrome bezel (near the volume controls). This gap troubled me because of the potential of dust/moisture collecting inside and under the screen. Also the white one's "gasket" sealer was lifted up in the corner and the backlight was shining through the back of the case in "blotchy" patches (very ugly).

So I called Apple and decided to see a Genius at the local Apple store. The Rep on the phone and the Genius stated that it's a "Known" issue and they swapped the iPhone's with new one's. The new white didn't have any side light leaks but the rear still had the blotches though to a less degree. The new black had the same side light leak so I took it back to Apple and we checked 3 new iPhones all of which had the light leak. I decided to just take the one with the least leakage and they assured me that if dust/moisture would collect underneath they would swap it again before my warranty ended.

In total that's 6 out of 7 iPhone's that have the side light leak problem. Not good odds, I hope they fix it.

yeah thats the same problem i'm having with my white 3G. But i have so many apps and media from cydia that i don't really mind it to the point of replacing it..
