Using IPHONE3G 16GB Contract. Can i add Installer?

Hello,
I recently purchased Iphone3g 16gig on contract with o2.
Can i install installer in it by any chance? So that i can install free softwares to use? Or is there any alternate way to install Softwares for free w/o unlocking the phone?
I had iphone 8gig in my own country which i used to unlock my on using help of this site. I have moved to UK so had to take contract .
Please Help. Please help . Please help

Unlocking means unlocking the phone to be used with a different carrier.

Jailbreaking means hacking the phone to allow modified files and code.

Get it right. Way too many people getting them confused.

You have to JAILBREAK the phone in order to install installer and have it run. You can't run any of these apps without jailbreaking the phone.

Install on 2.0.X firmware sucks.
You need to read the guide at the top, and jailbreak it. It's very simple.

Yes you can jailbreak a 3g to get installer on it but I recommend Cydia. I used to like installer more but now Im a Cydia fan on 2.0.X

He refered to doing the above mentioned without unlocking, meaning he was implying he must unlock his phone in order to install Installer.app, which is false because unlocking the phone would still not allow that.

best way is to go to youtube and type in "How to jailbrake iphone" and a **** load of tutorials will come out. Do what they say and you'll have a jailbroken iphone

Just one more question. If i Jailbrake my Iphone will that affect my O2 Service in UK? I mean will i be able to enjoy Apple / o2 Services tht i enjoy in contract?
