The Dead have Risen
First, we still need parts so if you have any: http://www.modmyi.com/forums/buy-sel...nor-parts.html
Ok so last week a dude comes on the forum and says his phone is acting up so he needs some help getting his data off the HD since he destroyed the phone trying to open it. I volunteer to help him since I am an E.E.
Today the phone shows up... OMG....LOL! Frame twisted, all the ribbon cables ripped in half, screen broken, antenna cables crushed.... This phone is TOAST.
Problem is I can't just walk away from the phone and trash it because I promised to help so I begin a rescue mission to raise the dead and this one is really putting my talents to the test.

Well........
I sat down and lit a smoke, scattered the parts out across the desk and stared at this hunk of parts for a good 30 minutes trying to form a game plan. With all the plastic guts twisted and malformed, the metal framework warped, and all the ribbon cables cut, plus the antenna wires crushed and shorting out.......... I decided to have a second smoke.
After 4 hours under the O'Scope, the Weller, and the magnifying glass......
ladies and germs................
The dead arises..........

Glad you guys enjoyed the pics. I'm playing around with the phone this am. I saw someone replace their broken screen with custom cut plexi and I might do that.
Throw a BSE on it and you're good to go.
You can also use tinted plexi.......
EDIT:
I can't help but think there's something else I could be doing here..........

Well it will be the new screen once I take a look at the digitizer and determine the level of difficulty of removing it without killing it.
The digitizer controls the screen and wraps around it. It's angel hair thin like a ribbon cable and glued into the screen. Might be one of those things that goes beyond my nerves.iMac 27" i5 quad 2.8Ghz (1TB), MacBook Pro 17" 2.6, iPhone 4s

Wow. Nice job. dealextreme.com just got iphone parts in, so at least I know there's a chance in hell to attempt a fix in case something ever happens, albeit a small chance.
