I felt that I was ready to update to version 1.02 so hastily, I docked my iPhone, fired up iTunes, and clicked update. Little did I realize that iTunes won't update jailbroken iPhones. So now I have an iPhone that Windows recognizes but no longer as a camera, and iTunes requires that I restore it and lose some very precious photos of my old house among others. iPhone Browser does not recognize it. Is there anything, ANYTHING, I can do? I know I made a stupid stupid mistake by not backing up first, but can I fix it at least find the files then restore later?

why dont you save the photos off your iphone and then restore it?

That would be the problem. Windows doesn't recognize my phone as a camera anymore and itunes insists that I restore. I cannot access the main menu or anything, only the Warning screen.

If you have REALLY important photos, you can just email them to yourself one at a time. The iPhone should be fine if you disconnect it and restart it.
