Black IPhone Cover Installation Tips and Images

would like black on my iPhone. But would rather have it a cherry red color. Really not into the phone looking black. It would look like the iPod touch.

it looks so good and i want to do it! but 2 reasons why i cant:
Void warranty(im on my second iphone)
dont have the guts to do this(i dunn want to end up messing up and cant replace it)

Oh I fell for the beauty of a black back, and paid heavily for it.. the problem is that the side rails that hold the back on are glued with strong cement and even though i used nitoromors stripper (as good as the first poster's cement stripper) I could have used the UK equivolent (disolve it) but that is on license here now and hard to get a hold of. I still managed to get the glue softened enough to remove the rails and metal bases for the vibrate, headphone socket and on/off volume parts. the trouble was getting it all back in exactly, and I mean exactly the right place. we are talking micro precision here boys and girls otherwise the case will not match up and close properly and if you are really unlucky the volume switch or something else will be out of whack and stick or simply not work. OK I was unlucky with my positioning and I am now awaiting a replacement back piece wth all the runners, etc in place ( silver I am afraid) and complete on/off volume and virbrate electronics. So, wasted a lot of time, money and patience and am still not done putting it back together. Really, unless you have the luck of the Irish and nerves of steel pay someone else to do this for you or stick with the silver back. in restorspect, why mess with something that is near perfect? Black is so brown :-)

another tip, if you want it to have a more shiny effect than a flat one, try installing the invisible shield. here is what mine looks like after installing the black back and invisible shield:

The product isn't found anymore on the cnn.cn website. Is there anywhere else I can get this back cover. I dropped my iPhone a while back and there's a huge dint in the side. I have a protective cover now but the dint pushes the protective cover so much that the tabs holding it on end up breaking. I've gone through 3 so far... Lol.

Can anyone link me to a store where I can get a new cover? This black one would be nicee...

I emailed cnn.cn about the black cases and their reply was that it was out of stock and they don't know when their gonna get anymore in stock. So far the only place I've seen selling this is on the bay (eBay).

Try these guys. Of course, you realise these do not come with the internal parts and you have to unglue your original micro parts and put them in the new one. This is where it gets tricky and I can assure you that you are in for a ***** of a job getting it right. Be warned, as stated earlier in this thread not to leave any of the black plastic parts (volume, on/off switch or camera rubber part) in when using solvents to unglue or you are looking at a a new phone, you cannot buy these parts! There are new silver back covers that come with all the internal parts already fitted, and these are the way to go IMHO.
