I have an iPhone with 1.1.3 Firmware and 3.9 bootloader, and when someone calls me they here and echo of their own voice, i dont hear the echo. It happens on mobiles and land lines.
I cant send the iPhone back to apple cos its jailbroken and unlocked and i'm in Ireland (there not out here yet).
Anyone know if theres a fix for this?

i think the problem that the mic is next to the speaker, so when someone talks the mic will catch his voice and repeate it, correct me if i'm wrong and is there is a fix for this ?

The mic is nowhere near the speaker. I don't think this is something fixable.
Mine does it too... It sucks, but you move on...

This would only be the case if you put them on speaker phone. I don't have that particular problem with my provider so I don't know what the source would be.

I think apple made a mistake by putting the speaker at the bottom, it should be on sides or at the top.

I only have this problem occasionally. Sometimes if i hang up and call again it goes away, sometimes it doesn't. When it does happen, both parties hear the echo.

One thing i noticed, is that it happens more when I'm sitting near my PC. Wonder if its some sort of interference that causes it?

Echo Problem Solved

The problem is due to clogged speaker holes; they're causing a sort of "feedback" that creates a sound loop. The callers voice is being picked up by the microphone and being sent back to them. Take a small needle and clean out all the gunk in the speaker holes on the bottom of the iPhone.

Problem Solved.
