Default [REQUEST] - Make iPhone stay on when plugged in

Is there, (or has someone already made a way), to get the iPhone to always stay on as long as its being charged? It would seem like a simple thing, write an app that watches to see if you are charging and if you are, change the Settings\AutoLock to Never?

But searching, I haven't found anything??

    (or am I blind??)

I'm not aware of any device that's set to always be on by default when plugged in. Why charge a unit that's just exhausting that charge at the same time.

Just leave it on autolock never is you want to leave it on.

Pretty much every PDA and Smartphone I've owned had an option for staying on when on external power.

It's a PITA when in my car and I have to unlock every fives minutes.

A shortcut to toggle autolock from Never to 5 minutes and back would be excellent, though I'm not sure that would keep the display lit.

Actually ALL Windows Mobile devices have this option...

If you want to work on the device for a while, (and don't want the battery to drop its charge it would be nice to plug it in (it stays on) and when you unplug it it works normal)... only reason to not always leave it on Never is if you have it turn on by accident, etc...

Precisely, they have the option, as did my Treo. But they do not stay on "by default" soon as you plug them in, which was asked in the first post.

Both iToggle and NetServices have the option to turn on/off Autolock.

When you say iToggle or NetServices, are you saying they have an option to turn off AutoLock when on battery charge? or just that they have an option to turn off AutoLock?

Cause just going into iToggle or NetServices to turn off Autolock isn't much easier then going into Settings and doing it yourself ... that is why I was saying if a running app could watch charging and did it automatically that would be MUCH handier ....

I'm guessing from all this, that there is no way, and currently no app, for doing it automatically :-(

    @Ivan

Thats exactly what i need too. Very often, when i'm home working with my macbook, just put on cradle, start Chicken of the VNC, and just wish it would stay that, lets say, to write a few TXTs and other stuff, instead, 1 minute later, black screen. Damn, go to settings and so on...

An "Auto App" with few config would be great, Maybe a cheap one in Cydia store someone?

If you are jailbroken Install SBSettings and enable the Autolock toggle.

Its really simple to toggle the autolock feature with SBSettings

SBSettings and AutoLock is what I use now, but RockYourPhone (gayest name ever) has a app called MyProfiles that can turn off autolock and back on automatically based on a rules engine.

I installed the trail and was pretty damned impressed, (though i would not buy anything now given firmware 3.0 is coming out and devs tend to like to make you re-buy for new firmwares), but check out the trail ...

Wait for a few weeks after 3.0 has come out. Then if needed go ahead and buy.
