Safari freezes iphone
Hey guys
I just found this problem today, whenever I try to run safari, the whole entire thing just freezes up. Nothing I've tried works, including wiping cache/history/cookies, uninstalling some apps I recently installed, messing around with various settings, etc. I've been searching around the forums, and I haven't noticed anybody else with the same problem.
by freezing, I mean that the entire iphone locks up. nothing i press works, and the only way to fix things is to hold home-power and hard restart the phone.
Any ideas?

I just started having the same problem. If you double click home and then click music, you can listen to music while you scream with frustration :P
But seriously, does anyone have an answer to this?

Ive got the same problem, ad I even went so far as to try downloading myfox from Cydia which is just another browser but same problems there, maybe thats bc its probably built off the same code and just modified a bit...
What about SSHing an older version of Safari onto the iphone like the one from 2.0.1?

I had safari freeze on me for four days till I tried this one.
The problem seems to occur on dense information sites, and with mine it got caught between two screens, the safari screen and the bookmark screen.
I first went into SETTINGS and switched off java script and the plug-ins.
I then went to DEVELOPER and SWITCHED ON the DEBUG CONSOLE. I then turned the IPHONE OFF waited 5 secs (out of habit more than anything else I reckon) and switched it back on again.
When I turned on Safari the debug console took over and my page loaded, safari came up trumps.

Goto settings/general; and then reset your network settings, see if that helps!

It appears that this bug came with latest version of Safary Download manager 1.5.
So if you will uninstall it Safary will start working again. The other fix is to click "download" icon and then press "done". You will need to do this any time your safary will stop responding till new vertion of Safary Download manager will fix that bug. Thanks for the info, you are completely correct. Glad to know what the problem is and how to fix and especially glad that I don't have to reload my phone! I'm still using 3.1.2 firmware and it's been working fine for me till this bug. Thanks again!
