Can you use WiFi to help reception (kinda like blackberry)?

I just moved into a new house, and for some reason my iphone reception is horrible inside. Two of my other housemates have the iPhone as well, they are on AT&T (I am T-Mobile), and they don't have much better luck that I do. The two kids on normal phones (and verizon, i think) work fine.
I know that blackberry can use WiFi for making calls. Can WiFi help for receiving calls as well? And can these be done on the iPhone? It's just frustrating that I don't get enough service to be usable inside most of the house.
