Trouble getting onto my WIFI help!!!

I am trying to jailbreak my phone but my internet connection will not go through. I have tried it both secured and un secured. I get a "safari cannot open the webpage cause it cannot find the server". This also was going on before i tried to jailbreak it. Anyone know what the hell is going on? Or any ideas on how to fix this?
