Thinking about upgrading to the 3g for tethering...couple of questions..??
So, as of now I currently have a gen 1 iPhone. This phone is currently on a AT&T Family Plan and not under my name. If I was to open a new account with AT&T, buy the 3g iPhone, and then turn around and cancel it while incurring the $175 early termination fee....will I see any harsh results?? Will this look bad on my credit?
Also, I would be able to activate the phone back on my current number?

You know you can't tether your iPhone to anything right? ATT apparently has it stated in some fine print somewhere that you can't use the iPhone for tethering. Even if you could, the only piece of software that would allow you to tether was pulled from the app store by Apple. I could be wrong but I don't believe there is any jailbroken software that will let you tether either.

Well I don't know anything about AT&T (I live in Canada) but you definately can tether your iPhone to your computer. Just google "tether 3G to computer" and you will get a ton of results. This one for instance...

Yeah, I have seen multiple videos of people tethering the iPhone to their laptop so I know it can be done.
Also, I read somewhere that if you cancel your contract with AT&T before 6 months you incur and additional $200 charge for the iPhone along with the $175 ETF. Can anyone confirm this?
