iphone interrupted during restore, now i get an error
So I pwned firmware 2.0.1 with pwnage and restored perfectly, but when I was backing up my iphone to my older backup my cat jumped on my computer and knocked my iphone off the dock in the middle of it.
Now when I try and restore I get a message from itunes saying "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured. (1604).
Anyone ever have this problem?iPhizzle

Put the phone into DFU mode first, then restore.
PS- Make sure your posting to the correct forum.

From what I've heard, this usually resolves itself if you restart the computer and/or attach your phone to a different usb port.

Okay, I put my iphone in DFU mode. Now I get the error (1600).
I've also restarted and switched usb ports/cords repeatedly.Last edited by bubonicbryan; 08-14-2008 at 01:13 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I found this on another forum, worth a try I suppose.
Forget the command line bit, check in finder if the folder exists. If it does, empty it; if not, then create the folder. (device support)If you get Error 1600 from iTunes (or if you see in your log a failure to prepare x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw), try: mkdir ~/Library/iTunes/”Device Support” ; if that directory already exists, remove any files in it.Last edited by 461am; 08-14-2008 at 01:22 PM.

I deleted the files in "Device Support" and retried, I'm still getting error 1600.
Plus my phone wont go back to the boot logo. It just remains black whenever I try anything, yet iTunes is still recognizing it.iPhizzle

Okay here's one final shot at it. Remove itunes and then reinstall it, and try to restore again.
If this doesn't work, sigh.. I guess its time to book that appointment at the apple store.

you can always hold down the power and home button for 10 seconds to get out of DFU mode. This will at least put you back at the beginning

I've gotten that a few times. Last few times I reinstalled iTunes and it worked. Just keep trying.
