Dead iPhone. I gutted my first born for the benefit of curious minds.
Updated: iphone speaker / mic assembly.
For those curious minds and to answer the question "is it safe to poke a needle into the speaker area of the iphone to get increased volume?" .... you can decide after looking at the speaker assembly.

My week 27 baby took it's last breath 11/29/2007.
Just didn't have the guts until now to take it apart .
