It has nothing to do with the firmware you got from here. The same thing happened to me and I downloaded mine from apple. Here try this
iPhone 2.0 coming back from the 1604 error | Staggering through Life
it is the only thing that worked for me

You also could have just re-pwned the phone and then restore the custom firmware... that's what I did and I've no problems to speak of...

I heard Motorola Razrs were a revolutionary device also, it's very slim with a lower failure rate than the iPhone.
Please ban him, block any extended IP's from him. MMi does not want to damage his phone again.
