Thats a fair statement, because I myself don't know how it is used on the iphone specifically. I am familiar with keypairs for the xbox 360 and it is my understanding that this is very similar. All of the content needs to be signed with this key and then it will be able to pass as a genuine SDK app from Apple. This means the apps on this site could be distributed with itunes if they were signed by this key, eliminating the need for jailbreak completely!

Key will be needed, but beleive more than key will be used just as there music donwlaods are only good on units purchased for.
