Is it possible that an update could awaken 3G capabilities within the current iphone? Or has this theory been totally abandoned now after Mac World and that CEO comment? I mean apple have done things like this in the past right, and awaken sleeping hardware with software?

Yes, Hardware is the hold back on 3g, same as GPS....

No, it is quite easy.

If you got a 8G, make a 5G file if you got a 4G, then make a 1G file.
